September 2011
Only a small contingent from TaffMog went to Newmarket but
those that did thoroughly enjoyed themselves, as expected. They much appreciate
all the hard work done by the organisers, AngleMog, and are also grateful to
Geoff & Jennie for their hospitality.
The noggin at St. Mary’s Golf Club was one of the best
attended for some time.
The weather wasn’t brilliant for the Road Trip on the 17th
in aid of St. David’s Foundation but about 80 vehicles took part, including 8
Morgans. There were plenty of bacon and sausage baps available at the start, as
well as bottles of water and Mars bars. Burgers and hot dogs awaited the
participants at the end of the run. This event is sponsored by Newtown Motors
who were also kind enough to lend Dianne & myself their new 1.6
demonstrator for the day since our Roadster was laid up and radiatorless. Thanks
go to Peter Constable, who’s keen to help whenever he can.
There was a good turnout at the Usk noggin and we were
pleased to see Dave & Jackie looking fit and well.
It had to happen sooner or later – Neil & Helen won
Simon’s bottle of wine for the best turned-out car at the Halfway noggin at the
end of the month. It was obviously worth getting those new wings!
Congratulations to Simon & Natalie from all at TaffMog
on the arrival of their new son, Oscar. Mother & baby are doing well but
Simon looks like he could do with a good night’s kip!
Keith & Brenda were supposed to organise the Welland
Steam Fair trip on 31st July. However, they went swanning off to
Torquay instead and left everything to Phil & Julie Cripps. They did a
grand job and welcomed us to their farm with plenty of bacon and sausage baps,
washed down with tea or coffee. They then led us on a scenic run to Welland,
during which we lost Jen Ryall in her tintop. Rumours were that she’d gone off
to Gloucester to do a bit of shopping instead. However, that was not the case
and she turned up at the show in good spirits. It was a grand day out and we
are grateful to Phil & Julie for their hospitality.
