TIP 1
If you have a 4/4 of 1997 vintage, it may be prudent to check a group of 5 brown wires radiating from a lug connected to the Starter Motor. This group of wires runs from the Starter Motor on the RHS of the car, and around the back of the engine, entering through the bulkhead on the LHS into the Dashboard. It is possible for these wires to chafe on the back of the engine, and short circuit. These wires are virtually directly connected to the battery, and therefore unfused.
The problem could include the red/white coded cable connected to the starter motor. This being the supply cable from the Ignition Switch to the Starter Motor. This cable could make inadvertent contact with the brown cable, causing the Starter Motor to run whilst the engine is running, or car is in motion.
